History and Origin of the Victoria and Alfred Guest House and Conference Venue
The original homestead still on this site is believed to date
back to the late 19 th Century – The Victorian era. Built from Oregon pine
and Corrugated iron shipped from England in ‘kit form' and erected by craftsmen
of that bygone age, this homestead has been lovingly restored to its former
glory. This house formed part of what was known as the ‘Milner Villas'
which were presumed to be used by Lord Milner – at the time Governor of
the Cape Colony as his private hunting lodge.
The restoration and lavishly
built additions to the Guest House offers both the tourist and businessman
11 elegant suites all with stunning en-suite bathrooms and public areas
set in a sub-tropical garden surrounding a weather protected sparkling
pool. A delicious full buffet breakfast is included in the tariff and a
varied dinner menu is optional. Airport, beaches, City attractions and
Sporting venues are all within 5 minutes drive of the Guest House. Addo
Elephant Park and Shamwari Game park are within an hour's drive. For the
Corporate sector 3 on-site Conference venues seating from 8 to 100 delegates
are available. |
